Philippine Green Passport Renewal Reminder

Attention once again to all Filipino citizens that still hold Philippine green passports to renew . It is earlier announced by Philippine Vice Consul Sheila Monedero that Philippine Embassy will no longer renew and extend green passports on October 01, 2012.

I remind green passport holders that you only have until Sunday, that is September 30, 2012 to renew.

So, to those who did not renew earlier, come and visit the Philippine Embassy new location in Faiha and renew on Sunday or never.

Do not waste your chance to renew and avoid any corresponding penalty.

Philippine Embassy in Kuwait Passport Renewal Advisory

“Starting Oct 1, 2012, the Embassy will no longer extend green passports per DFA Circular-516-OUA-2012 to comply with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards requiring all non-machine readable passports to be out of circulation by year 2015,” announced on Saturday Philippine Vice Consul Sheila Monedero, as per Michelle Fe Santiago of Arab Times.

I assume that this circular is not only applicable to OFW’s in Kuwait but generally to all Filipinos who are outside the country for this is in compliance to international standards.

So for those, OFW’s who have friends and relatives in another country you may also inform the same to visit and renew their green passports in their respective embassies.

However, before doing so, if you are holding green passport–act first to renew it and just remember the date: October 01, 2012 the embassy will no longer extend green passport. So you should act on or before September 30, 2012 and that is Sunday.

I hope we should keep in mind this very important information that has been disseminated. Failure to renew only means one thing “penalty”.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration warns Filipino workers, especially women, against accepting offers of employment that would require them to leave illegally using exit points in the southern parts of the country.

Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said workers deployed through the backdoor exits would usually end up either stranded without work in a foreign country, or forced to accept low-paying household jobs or as farm hands in remote plantations or establishments used as front for prostitution.
