Slavery, discrimination and racism has long been forgotten since the downfall of Roman Empire down to the last black slave. A racist, discriminating comment is considered idiotic. Only uneducated person can dare crack a racist comment to anyone.
This is the case of Devina Sharma or Devina DeDiva. Sharma posts racist and derogatory comment on her Facebook directed to Megan Young, a Filipino who recently won the "Miss World" title, saying that:
“Miss Philippines is Miss World? What a joke! I did not know those maids have anything else in them Ha Ha Ha.”
What the fuck? What joke is she talking about?
Every woman has equal opportunity to get the title. Whether she is a Filipino, American, Singaporean or Indian, that is why the pageant is called "Miss World".
As long as you live in this world, even you--"Devina Sharma"-- you can participate. But in my opinion, based on your arrogant comment, you don't belong to this world. You are an alien, therefore, you can not participate.
Sorry for that statement.
Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And I believed Ms. Sharma is invoking her right to freedom of speech. Sharma answered to her Facebook friends that did not agree to her comments by saying,
Those of you who wrote negatively to my comment, I got one question — who are you to stop my words when the world is democratic in freedom of speech?
Ms. Sharma, let me remind you that every freedom you enjoy is affiliated with responsibility. Freedom should not be abused.
This is the time for Megan Young (who happens to be a Filipino) to shine. Let her shine. And before you throw those racist comments, you should have studied yourself. I think you forget who you are. Well, let me remind you.
Ms. Sharma, you are an Indian by blood and was lucky enough to be born in Singapore to become a Singaporean citizen. Filipino and Indian maids work hand-in-hand in cleaning toilets to a Kuwaiti employer here in Kuwait.

Singaporean government must strip her off her nationality as she is a shame to the ASEAN nation.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that would be possible. The comment she did is her responsibility. With the amount of bashing she now have, I think, could possibly change now, how she sees things. She is still young and still learning things.

I suppose that when walking in the streets anywhere in the world, she could cover her face and yet would still be looking over her shoulders, always anticipating the rants and wrath of people for having a misplaced arrogance and a swelling ego.

ReplyDeleteI've read in one legit newspaper that she was fired from her job lately. The irony is that her supervisors were Filipinos. She actually works as an assistant teacher in some school in Singapore. She became a victim of her own making. What a relief, anyway.

Suggesting that she be stripped of her nationality is somehow so gross...because from now on even walking the streets of Singapore, London or any part of the globe... she surely would be watching her back as well as her steps, trying to hide from Asian looking people.. Indian and Pinoys alike... coz..90% sure she will be encountering Pinoys anywhere in the world. Also..how I wish that somebody could tell this ignoramus that Philippines is the only country in the world to win all types of Major Beauty Pageants...(Universe, Supranational, International and the latter, Ms. World) and we have been winning titles long before she was born....

It is not their fault if they were born where they were born. Would this ig..r.mous look down on people of kenya, somalia, sierrra leone and vietnam too? What about India? If it is true that she did issue a half- hearted apology through a hastily opened account, i believe she did so only because of the pressure. Didnt you see her comment saying that she will never say shes sorry? The sheer arrogance makes me want to puke. What a waste of good education. She may have a degree but she cant call herself EDUCATED or LEARNED. If her parents and mentors have any common sense in them at all, they should be so ashamed of her. Losing her job is not enough but having no peace or having to look over her shoulder for the rest of her life would be.

At least we know how to clean toilets, i bet Divina's toilet is full of s#%t because apparently she doesn't clean one & I am so sure she can't afford to hire one, especially now that she is JobLess. Secondly when she goes to jail because of criminal charges, she also will have the priviledge to clean the Toilet. Lol anyway i should send her my Congratulations for ruining her life. Ha ha ha!
