POEA warns OFWs against use of backdoor exit

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration warns Filipino workers, especially women, against accepting offers of employment that would require them to leave illegally using exit points in the southern parts of the country.

Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said workers deployed through the backdoor exits would usually end up either stranded without work in a foreign country, or forced to accept low-paying household jobs or as farm hands in remote plantations or establishments used as front for prostitution.

Philippine Embassy Kuwait: Temporarily unable to issue OEC's

The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait according to a source is temporarily unable to issue OEC (Balik Mangagawa) to OFW's working in Kuwait. The embassy run out of OEC forms that they must get from Philippines.

This situation was brought upon by the strikes that were going on in Kuwait that started a week ago. Kuwait is in under pressure for strikes in the aviation sector.
